So currently there’s been a trend going around about a “no makeup makeup look”. I’ve seen many influencers recreate this look, attempting to make their makeup look as if there’s nothing there. I’m all for this trend, especially if you’re working or going to school and you need a look that’s appropriate but still noticeable. I did this myself a couple of days ago and really liked how it turned out as I just accentuated my features to make myself look more alive and fresh. I’m all for a natural makeup look as sometimes I don’t feel like wearing too much on my skin.

So today I’ll be giving you a tutorial on how to do a no-makeup makeup look, which is quick, easy and doable by anyone!

1. PREP THE SKIN WITH MOISTURISER, PRIMER AND LIP BALM

One of the secrets to this look is to begin with super hydrated and prepped skin. This will make your base even more glowy and natural as you’re blending products into moisturised and clean skin. Especially for the colder seasons, you need to take extra care of your skin by using a thick cream and other products to deeply hydrate the skin. Primer is used to keep the skin tacky so the following products you use on your skin stick which allows your makeup to last longer. I like to use an illuminating primer which gives your skin a highlighted glow which blends in nicely with the makeup. Last but not least, apply lip balm to also hydrate the lips before you apply any gloss or colour to them at the end.

2. LESS IS MORE WHEN IT COMES TO FOUNDATION

When doing my makeup for work, I’d always apply foundation all over my face for a full coverage look until I realised that was not necessary. What I do now is just dab the foundation on areas with uneven skin tone or scars or areas of darkness. This is just so those areas of your face can get slight coverage and using whatever excess product you have on the sponge you can blend it all over. But this way you’re only wearing a little foundation in the areas you need it instead of packing it everywhere.

3. USE CONCEALER TO LIFT THE FACE

I’m pretty sure many of you have seen those tiktoks where people show the areas you should apply concealer to make the face look lifted. I can’t describe in words where to apply the concealer so instead click here to watch my tiktok on how I did this look and where to apply everything! Now that we look dead and flat, use some cream contour above the cheekbones and on the sides of the nose for some sculpture. We’re using cream contour as it looks more natural and blends better in the skin rather than powder contour.

Remember when it comes to blending, always use a damp sponge so it all blends nicer into the skin. You can either squeeze it with cold water of spray it with setting spray.

4. POWDER AND BROWS

To mattify and set the base, bake under the eyes and the other areas where you applied concealer using a translucent powder. While that’s baking, find a product which can freeze your brows so they stay in place, such as soap or brow gel. If needed, fill in your brows lightly for more definition using either pencil or a promade. But remember to keep them natural looking.

5. TIME FOR BRONZER AND BLUSH

We need to bring some colour and warmth back to the face so pack on some bronzer on the cheekbones and forehead. Then following with a blusher on the cheeks and across the nose for some pink tones. To accentuate that nose contour, either grab a bronzer of powder contour and define the contour using a small brush. This is to deepen those lines in case they got lost in the bake.

6. ONLY MASCARA FOR THE EYES

Don’t get me wrong. I love to play with eyeshadow and eyeliners too, but this look is to make it look like we barely have makeup on. So we’re keeping it simple with only an eyelash curler and mascara. But try to opt for a good quality mascara which both lengthens your lashes and gives volume so the eyes pop.

7. THE FINAL TOUCHES!

Next is a highlighter because that is the product that gives that glow and shine to the high points of our face. Right above the cheekbone, nose bridge and inner corner of the eyes are the places where you want to brush on some shimmery highlighter for that sparkle. If you want it to be more natural, try a gold or pink highlighter as they’re not as bright but still have a glow. Lastly, grab a subtle gloss and brush it on the lips so the lips aren’t naked lmao. If you really want, line your lips with a neutral lip liner just to define the lines of your lips and then fill in with lip gloss. AND THERE YOU HAVE IT: A NO-MAKEUP MAKEUP LOOK!

Trust me when I say you’ll feel so light and fresh when applying your makeup this way. It’s minimal and simple but still gives that glow and warmth for this season! Make sure to remember to set the final look with setting spray so it lasts throughout the day.
